Karen Greenstein

Music Director

Karen Greenstein holds a Bachelor in Music Education from Indiana University in Bloomington. Indiana, where she studied piano and voice. She is currently working at the Roosevelt Intermediate School in Westfield, NJ as a vocal music teacher, and serves as Choir Director for the Preakness Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir. In addition, Karen works as a vocal music instructor for Kreative Kids Theatrical Group, and as a private voice and piano teacher and coach. Her students have performed at NJPAC, Lincoln Center, and have worked on and off-Broadway. Furthermore, Karen has worked as musical director, vocal coach, and accompanist for various theater schools, and regional theaters. Theaters and theater schools include Action Theater Conservatory, TADA Theater, Intar Theater, NJPAC, The John Harms Theater, Singer's Forum, Sunlight Theater, Westfield Workshop for the Arts, and the Walnut Hill Performing Arts School.

Karen believes "great things happen when you least expect them". Karen first met Pastor Jane Harlan when working as vocal instructor for Kreative Kids, a theater organization that rehearses at PBC. Karen began her work with PBC in August 2007, initially an interim position playing the piano for church services. In December 2007, she continued her work as music director of the Christmas Cantata "Imagine", and then as music director of the sanctuary choir. Although her previous experience has been primarily music education and theater, Karen found a new love of gospel music and spreading His word through song, thanks to the warm and wonderful ministry of Pastor Jane Harlan, Pastor David Boone, and the PBC community. She continues to serve as choir director for the PBC Sanctuary Choir as well as music director for the Christmas and Easter Cantatas.
